A place of national significance in the heart of a local regeneration area

The National Poetry Centre is working with the University of Leeds to breathe life back into a landmark heritage building – Trinity St David’s, opening up the Grade II listed building as a new public space by 2027.

Leeds is the perfect home for poetry in the UK, in the very heart of the country with a rich tradition of literature to draw on. West Yorkshire has a vibrant contemporary poetry scene from the Leeds Poetry Festival to the 2023 Contains Strong Language Festival. 2023 also sees the launch of the hugely successful West Yorkshire Young Laureates competition.

The concept designs below have been developed by award winning Yorkshire architect, Gagarin Studio, which will create a vibrant space for performance, creativity, co-working and relaxing; porous, open and accessible.
